Why do Indians perform poojas(rituals) on their tools, vehicles etc?

Why do we Indians perform poojas(rituals) on their tools, vehicles etc?

Are we crazy to do such silly things? Or is there any justification? Let us explore it a bit.
It is well known that, Indian thought process had given more importance to mukthy(realization), while the other institutionalized religions tried to find ways and means to explain the struggle of worldly life.The pre-requisite for a mukta, or for an aspirant of Mukthi, was to have emotional detachment to everything and to have attachment only towards the supreme knowledge and its experience.

Moreover, the creation is out of vibrations / mantras ( naada brahmam) for us, Hindus. Each object is a spandam(vibration). The frequency of this spandam is as per the evolution of its consciousness. Even a stone has consciousness, however small it may be. To the skeptical minds, it may be surprising to study the similarities in this thought process with the continuously evolving metaphysical domain.
In order to develop a uniform outlook towards all named subjects and objects, Hindus were given a training to revere the consciousness in all of them. Even the minutest particle that we see belongs to the body of the universe. We are just a miniature of this universal body. When we treat even the hair in the body with utmost care, what should be the scale of our respect to the different parts in the 'universal body'!!

We were asked to revere even the floor that is stepped on in the morning!! We found the divine bhoomi devi (goddess of earth) in the otherwise unnoticed floor. This got extended nicely to the working place and tools as well. Whatever tools we used to work with, we learned to treat them in ways that none of the consumerist cultures and religions had even dared to dream of. Tools have heart!! Yes, they are not just dead tools!!
Forget about the fact that Quantum Physics has found some nice sync points in the Upanishads stream of thinking. Just think, how nice it is to treat the tools that bring about positive changes and effects in our life to have a consciousness!! Yes, we are all surrounded by different consciousness at different stages of evolution. Wow!! For all those having a positive frame of mind, this thought will enable them to reap better results as a result of more efficient and "divine" usage of the tools.
This is the principle behind pooja (worship)  on vehicles also. Vehicles are also our gods, which help us transcend the limitation of our consciousness in traversing distances. Let reverring vechicles be our starting point in the quest for a spaceless state, the ultimate!!
Om Sadgurubhyo Nama: (Oh my teacher, you are the truth, i am nothing)

Jai Jai Jai Bhavani!! (Let the mother of the universe win over all)
